Arsen Avakov: It is necessary to declassify most positions of the state defense procurement in Ukraine

In the next fiscal year, the number of classified positions in the state defense order will be significantly reduced, which will facilitate transparent competitive procurement.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov stated this today, on July 5:

“It has already been said that it is necessary to declassify a large number of positions of the state defense order since the designation “secret” often hides various corrupt schemes.  During its recent meeting the NSDC decided that in the next year the number of the classified budget lines of the state defense procurement would be reduced several times”, – said the Minister.

He added that such a step would open up the possibility of procurement tenders.  “This is a component of a completely different procurement philosophy”, –  stressed Arsen Avakov.
