Arsen Avakov: we hope to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov stated this on January 29, 2020, during a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine Teimuraz Sharashenidze.

The parties discussed the current state and actual issues of cooperation and initiatives for its further development.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine expressed hope that during the term of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Ukraine Teimuraz Sharashenidze, the interaction of the two countries will intensify.

At the interdepartmental level, countries are already collaborating in combating cross-border crime, in particular in the fight against organized crime and criminal kingpins (thieves in law).  Also, work is underway to prepare an agreement on the reciprocal recognition and exchange of driving licenses.

Teimuraz Sharashenidze assured that the Georgian side is ready for fruitful cooperation and will support Ukraine on the path of reform.
