Arsen Avakov and the Minister of National Defence of Canada agreed to expand cooperation in the field of security
4 July 2019Today, on July 4, 2019, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine met with the Minister of National Defence of Canada Harjit Sajjan at the International Ukraine Reform Conference, which takes place in Toronto, Canada.
“With the Minister of National Defence of Canada, we discussed the interaction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine with the Canadian Armed Forces and the purchase of new military equipment”, – said the head of the MIA.
During the meeting, the sides discussed security issues in Ukraine, in particular, during the early parliamentary elections.
“Today, the issue of security is not only a question about the borderline of
the armed conflict in Ukraine or the line of demarcation. This is a question of security in society,
the mood of people. Therefore, the
mechanism of democratic elections, which we now provide for, is a key component
of security”, – stated Arsen Avakov.
