According to Arsen Avakov, the sanctions list of the RF government will not affect either those who are on this list or millions of citizens of Ukraine.
On October 22, 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed Decree No. 592 “On the introduction of the special economic measures related to the unfriendly actions of Ukraine concerning citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation”.
On November 1, 2018, the Russian government adopted Resolution No. 1300 “On measures to implement the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 592 of October 22, 2018”. This Resolution introduces special economic measures in relation to physical persons and legal entities of Ukraine, providing for the blocking (freezing) of non-cash funds, book-entry securities and property in Russia and a ban on the transfer of funds (withdrawal of capital) from Russia.
The sanctions will apply to 322 physical persons and 68 legal entities. The list of physical persons and legal entities that will be subject to sanctions includes: judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, deputies of the VIII convocation of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, major Ukrainian businessmen, officials of the Administration of the President of Ukraine, heads of executive authorities of Ukraine and large Ukrainian companies, legal entities controlled by major businessmen of Ukraine.
“Putin was wrong. We are not just 322 persons. We are millions of Ukrainians whom one wouldn’t break either with sanctions nor with criminal suits… We will hold back the mad dog of the Putin regime, and we will eventually win because our cause is right!” – stated Arsen Avakov.
The Government of Russia reserved the right to withdraw the announced special economic measures in case Ukraine will cancel the restrictive measures imposed on Russian citizens and legal entities.
