Arsen Avakov: by the end of the year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will receive 26 Airbus helicopters

The ministry expects to receive 18 more helicopters for the MIA Unified airborne public safety and security system next year.  Arsen Avakov said this during a meeting with a delegation of the Airbus Group, which took place today, on June 3, at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The event was attended by the Director-General of Ukroboronprom Yuriy Gusev and Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko.

The parties discussed the progress in implementing the contract between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Airbus Helicopters for the purchase of 55 helicopters and prospects for further expanded cooperation.

“Considering the increase in the number of aircraft being procured from the French manufacturer, the Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to actively deploy the maintenance and repair system for Airbus Helicopters in Ukraine.  The center of technical support will be located in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region.  In the future, this site will also serve helicopters of our European partners”, – informed Arsen Avakov.

French partners announced changes in the schedule of helicopter deliveries in 2021–2022. Delivery of 26 helicopters is planned for 2021 and 18 – for 2022.

The delegation of the Airbus Group also noted that the H225-type helicopter flight simulator (FFS) is being installed now in the training center of the Kremenchuk Flight College of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs to train aviation personnel.  Completion of FFS installation and start of operation is scheduled for August 2021.

Yulia Sviridenko noted that the Office of the President of Ukraine took note of the successful cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and French aircraft manufacturers.  In the future, Airbus Group may be involved in the implementation of the presidential initiative to create a Ukrainian national air carrier.
